On March 28, 2024, Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company held a grand ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Ninh Binh Power Plant (1974–2024). Throughout its journey of construction and development, the plant has generated approximately 24 billion kWh of electricity, making a significant contribution to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in ensuring a stable power supply for economic and social progress.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of key leaders, including Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director of EVN, Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Power Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3), Mr. Le Van Danh – General Director of EVNGENCO3, representatives from the Party Committee Bloc of the Ninh Binh Provincial Agencies and Enterprises, various departments, local authorities, and partners from within and beyond the energy industry.

At the Ceremony, Mr. Trinh Van Doan delivered a report on the remarkable 50-year journey of the Ninh Binh Power Plant. The plant was commenced on March 15, 1971, in Ninh Binh town, featuring four units with a total installed capacity of 100 MW. On January 17, 1974, the Minister of Coal-fired Power, Mr. Nguyen Huu Mai, officially signed the decision to establish Ninh Binh Power Plant, marking January 17 as the unit’s Traditional Day. During the development process, in July 2005, it transitioned to an independent company under the name Ninh Binh Thermal Power Company. Later, on January 1, 2008, the company was equitized and became a Joint Stock Company. For 50 years, the plant has upheld the mission of "All for the power for the Fatherland”. To date, it has produced nearly 24 billion kWh of electricity, steadfastly ensuring a reliable electricity supply for the Northern region. Alongside its production and business activities, the Company has contributed an average of over 30 billion VND per year to the state budget, actively engaged in social responsibility initiatives, collaborating with local communities to implement various programs that foster sustainable development.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung Duong - Deputy General Director of Power Generation Corporation 3, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company acknowledged and expressed his sincere appreciation to the leaders of Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam Electricity, Power Generation Corporation 3 for constantly accompanying the development of the Company. Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Power Generation Corporation 3, recognized the Company's dedication and resilience in overcoming challenges to fulfill its electricity production mission. He also highlighted the Company's commitment to ensuring shareholder value through dividend payments, thereby contributing to the overall success of Vietnam Electricity and Power Generation Corporation 3.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director of Vietnam Electricity, acknowledged the dedication and contributions of generations of leaders, workers, and employees of Ninh Binh Power Plant - now known as Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company - toward the growth of Vietnam Electricity. Looking ahead, he highlighted the Prime Minister’s approval of the Ninh Binh Provincial Planning for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050, which includes the development of a 300MW flexible power plant in Kim Son District, signaling a strategic shift toward clean energy. In alignment with this vision, EVN has tasked EVNGENCO3 and the Company with formulating a roadmap for the transition to a flexible LNG power plant to replace the existing facility. He urged the Company’s employees to uphold their traditions, fulfill their assigned responsibilities, and contribute to the sustainable development of the Company, the Corporation, and EVN.

With its outstanding achievements, the Company has been honored with numerous prestigious awards from the Party and the State, including the First-Class Labor Medal (2003) and the Second-Class Independence Medal (2013).
