On the morning of April 3, 2026, at Phu My Thermal Power Company (Phu My 1 Industrial Park, Phu My Ward), the Ho Chi Minh City Police Public Security organized a city-level firefighting and rescue drill. This is a key activity under the peak period plan to ensure fire prevention and fighting safety across Ho Chi Minh City.
More than 400 personnel participated in the city-level firefighting and rescue drill at Phu My Thermal Power Company
The drill mobilized 407 personnel and 43 vehicles from 10 participating units. Core forces included the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Division (PC07), Traffic Police Division (PC08), Mobile Police Division (PK02), Phu My Ward Police, and Tan Thanh Industrial Park Police Station. In addition, there was close coordination from on-site and specialized firefighting forces of units such as Phu My Fertilizer Plant, Southeast Gas Transmission Company Branch, Phu My Thermal Power Company, along with local medical, electricity, and water supply units.
The hypothetical assumed scenario involved a lightning strike at the DO oil tank area of Phu My 1 Power Plant while the lightning protection system was under maintenance, causing a fire and explosion, with oil spilling into the containment diyke.
Upon detecting the incident, the on-site firefighting and rescue force of Phu My Thermal Power Company promptly implemented emergency response measures, including isolating the power supply, activating cooling systems for adjacent tanks, and using foam nozzles to contain the fire. The Company then coordinated contacted with neighboring units, authorities, and local firefighting forces to deploy joint firefighting operations in accordance with the established scenarioscript, organized conduct the rescue of trapped victims, and mobilized specialized equipment to completely extinguish the fire.
The drill was successfully conducted, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment. The Steering Committee held a review session, highly appreciating the thorough preparation, strong sense of responsibility, and seamless effective coordination among participating units. The exercise helped employees of Phu My Thermal Power Company, along with units in the Phu My Gas – Power – Fertilizer complex and relevant forces, to master coordinated response procedures and enhance readiness for emergency situations at key energy facilities.
