On the morning of January 20, 2026, in Phu My Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – President & CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), chaired a working session with Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO3) on environmental protection and the implementation of projects to upgrade flue gas treatment systems at EVNGenco3’s thermal power plants.

The delegation also included Mr. Dinh The Phuc – Member of the Members’ Council, Mr. Pham Le Phu – Vice President, and representatives of EVN’s functional departments.

On the side of EVNGENCO3 were Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam – Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Le Van Danh – Member of the Board of Directors and President & CEO, along with Deputy General Directors, representatives of functional departments, and affiliated units at Phu My Power Center.

Overview of the meeting.

Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Le Van Danh – President & CEO of EVNGENCO3, stated that environmental protection across the Corporation’s units has been implemented seriously and synchronously. Emission and wastewater treatment systems have been operating stably and continuously, fully complying with current environmental regulations. During the 2021–2025 period, EVNGENCO3 fully consumed all ash and slag generated at Vinh Tan 2 and Mong Duong 1 Power Plants. To meet the requirements of QCVN 19:2024/BTNMT, the Corporation has proactively developed a roadmap, technical solutions, and investment plans to upgrade flue gas treatment systems at coal-fired and gas-fired power plants, ensuring compliance with new environmental standards while maintaining safe, stable, and efficient operation, contributing to national energy security.

Regarding power generation in 2026, EVNGENCO3 has developed a production target of approximately 28.6 billion kWh, meeting techno-economic indicators while ensuring environmental compliance and financial efficiency. The Corporation has proactively negotiated and signed contracts for coal, gas, and regasified LNG supply, and implemented synchronized solutions to improve availability and optimize operation. Major overhauls are not scheduled during the dry season to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation and fulfill the assigned generation targets for 2026.

At the meeting, Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to ensuring environmental compliance under all operating conditions. EVNGENCO3 plans to complete upgrades of flue gas treatment systems at coal-fired power plants to meet QCVN 19:2024/BTNMT approximately three years ahead of schedule. He also proposed that EVN allow the installation and upgrading of these systems during major overhaul periods from 2026 onward without affecting power supply, and to include related investment costs in electricity tariffs.

In his directives, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated EVNGENCO3’s efforts in managing and operating power plants, as well as its strict compliance with environmental regulations. He emphasized that EVNGENCO3 has effectively implemented EVN’s directives, contributing to safe, stable, and continuous power supply for the system. He requested EVNGENCO3 to maintain high readiness of its power plants and to identify environmental protection as a key priority, ensuring no environmental incidents occur. The Corporation should regularly inspect and maintain wastewater treatment systems, calibrate environmental monitoring systems to ensure accurate data collection, and accelerate the expansion of the coal storage roof at Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant. 

On behalf of EVNGENCO3, Mr. Le Van Danh acknowledged the directives from EVN’s leadership and affirmed that the Corporation will continue to effectively implement environmental protection tasks in 2026, ensuring safe, stable, efficient, and continuous power generation in line with the national power system’s mobilization methods.
