EPS prepares for Major Overhaul of Unit 2 at Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant

The EVNGenco3 Power Plant Repair Services Company (EPS) has signed a contract with Komipo Van Phong Power Services Co., Ltd. (KVPS), the operator and maintenance provider for the Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant, to perform a major Level B overhaul for Unit 2. This agreement marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two entities, aimed at ensuring operational efficiency and enhancing the reliability of the power unit.

EPS to Conduct Overhaul of Unit 2 at Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant

Under the plan, EPS will work closely with KVPS to execute the comprehensive Level B overhaul for Unit 2, encompassing inspection and maintenance of the turbine, generator, boiler, fuel system, and related auxiliary systems. The project is scheduled to take place over 30 days, commencing on October 25, 2025.

The Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant, located in Khanh Hoa, has a total capacity of 1,320 MW across two units and is invested in by Van Phong Power Company Limited (VPCL), a subsidiary of Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation. Utilizing supercritical boiler technology, the plant is designed to produce over 8.5 billion kWh of electricity annually.

The upcoming Level B overhaul will be the first comprehensive maintenance for Unit 2, a critical technical undertaking to inspect, maintain, and optimize the plant’s core systems. This effort aims to ensure operational reliability, stability, and improved efficiency for subsequent operations.

The execution of this project further underscores EPS’s expertise, reputation, and standing in the field of power plant repair and maintenance, particularly with BOT clients who consistently demand high standards in quality, progress, and safety.

In 2024, EPS successfully collaborated with partners to perform routine maintenance and repairs on the OAB air blower system at the Vân Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant. Additionally, EPS has completed several major overhaul projects for other BOT clients, including the Thăng Long BOT Thermal Power Plant and the Nghi Sơn 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant.
