In February 2023, the electricity output of the whole system reached 20.22 billion kWh, up 9.4% over the same period in 2022. However, accumulated in the first 2 months of the year, the electricity output of the whole system reached 38.61 billion kWh - down 2.2% over the same period. The mobilizing ratio of some types of power sources to the total electricity output of the whole system is as follows:
+ Hydropower reached 10.57 billion kWh, accounting for 27.4%.
+ Coal thermal power reached 16.47 billion kWh, accounting for 42.7%.
+ Gas turbines reached 4.32 billion kWh, accounting for 11.2%.
+ Renewable energy reached 6.45 billion kWh, accounting for 16.7% (of which solar power reached 3.87 billion kWh, wind power reached 2.4 billion kWh).
+ Imported electricity reached 735 million kWh, accounting for 1.9%.
Power transmission output in February 2023 reached 16.1 billion kWh. Accumulated in 2 months of 2023, transmission power output reached 30.53 billion kWh, up 0.2% over the same period last year.
Construction investment: (i) Regarding power source: continue to focus on the construction of Expansion Hoa Binh and Expansion Ialy hydropower projects, Quang Trach 1 thermal power plant. Particularly, the Expansion Tri An hydropower project is currently waiting for the approval of the project investment policy by the competent state management agencies and the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee. Bac Ai pumped-storage hydropower project is continuing to complete the technical engineering of phase 2. (ii) Regarding the power grid: in the first 2 months of 2023, EVN and its units have commenced 07 projects and completed energizing and putting into operation 11 power grid projects from 110kV to 500kV.
Digital transformation: By the end of February 2023, units throughout EVN have completed 97.18% of the digital transformation implementation plan, in which the fields of business and customer service and construction investment have been basically completed 100%, some fields have been completed with a high rate such as internal administration (99.93%), production (96%).
Regarding the financial situation, due to the sudden increase in input fuel prices for electricity production since the beginning of 2022, while the retail electricity price has remained unchanged since 2019 until now, EVN's financial situation has faced many difficulties and does not ensure financial balance.
Some working tasks of EVN in March 2023
In March 2023, the average daily power consumption of the whole system is expected at 743.5 million kWh/day. System operation objectives: Continue to ensure the power production and supply for production - business activities and people's daily life. Thoroughly save multi-purpose hydropower, exploit the remaining hydropower plants in the direction of optimal regulation in the operation plan, and meet the constraints of the power grid/system demand and downstream water supply requirements. For coal-fired power plants and gas turbines: Highly mobilize coal-fired power plants and gas turbines to save water in hydropower reservoirs; mobilize according to the demands of the system of imported coal plants, ensuring the constraints against grid overload and voltage quality. At the same time, in order to reduce difficulties in power system operation in the dry season months of 2023, EVN continues to advise people, offices and production facilities to pay attention on using electricity safely and economically, etc.
Regarding construction investment: in March 2023, EVN and its units focus on reviewing the implementation plan of key grid projects; urgently energizing Bo Y switch-off station and its connection, expanding Phuoc Thai 220kV substation and its 110kV connection lines; energizing 220kV bays at the switch yard of Trung Nam Power Plant, putting into operation Ninh Phuoc - Thuan Nam 220kV transmission line, etc.
Other activities: Prepare to deploy events and communication activities in response to the Earth Hour 2023 campaign, and implement Youth Month activities on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
