EPS Company completes two repair service projects ahead of schedule

EPS Company has completed two key projects: the intermediate repair of Unit U1 at Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant (665MW) and the overhaul of Unit S2 at Thang Long Thermal Power Plant (310MW). The timely completion of these major repair projects plays a crucial role in ensuring the plants' reliable operation while reinforcing EPS’s brand reputation.

Early Completion of Nghi Son 2 BOT Power Plant Unit U1 Intermediate repair

The major maintenance project for Unit U1 of the Nghi Son 2 BOT Power Plant (1,330 MW capacity) is scheduled to take place from September 14 to October 17, 2024. As part of this project, EPS will be responsible for servicing key systems and equipment, including the inspection and maintenance of the turbine-generator system, as well as the maintenance and repair of the boiler and balance of plant (BOP) auxiliary systems. Throughout the project, EPS adhered strictly to safety and quality control measures. All tasks were executed in full compliance with the technical plan approved by the employer. "Thanks to meticulous preparation, strict adherence to procedures, and close coordination with the plant's supervision team, EPS engineers successfully completed the project two days ahead of schedule," said Mr. Le Chi Nhan, Deputy Manager of Vinh Tan Power Production – Automation Plant - Project Manager.

EPS engineer performs turbine maintenance work

At 02:12 AM on October 17, 2024, Unit U1 was successfully reconnected to the national grid after a 33-day shutdown, reaching its rated load of 665MW at 05:49 AM the same day. Since the overhaul, the unit has been operating safely, stably, and reliably, with all technical parameters meeting manufacturer standards.

Successful Overhaul of Unit S2 at Thang Long Thermal Power Plant (2 x 310 MW)

On November 6, 2024, EPS also completed the overhaul of Unit S2 at Thang Long Thermal Power Plant (2 × 310MW). This marked the unit’s first major maintenance shutdown since its commercial operation began in 2018. The project involved mobilizing more than 70 skilled technicians, engineers, and experts from EPS to carry out critical maintenance and repairs on the turbine, generator, and main steam valve systems.

Following acceptance and trial run, key performance indicators such as vibration levels and bearing temperatures of turbines were confirmed to be well within the required limits. By November 9, 2024, Unit S2 had successfully reached its rated capacity of 310MW, operating as designed with its efficiency after the overhaul improved closer to its original design specifications. Mr. Klahan Suksawai, Director of Thang Long Thermal Power Plant praised: “EPS has demonstrated outstanding technical expertise and a strong sense of responsibility, responding swiftly to challenges and ensuring smooth project execution. Their efficiency has helped us optimize maintenance costs while ensuring both progress and quality.”
