The peak load of the entire national grid during the holiday has decresed about 17% compared to the average of previous weekday but has increased by about 13% the same period in 2017.  The highest electricity consumption of the entire national grid during the holiday season was also reduced by 18% compared to the average of previous weekday but has raised about 10% compared to the same period in 2017. During the fourth holiday, 30/4/2018 was recorded the lowest peak load (22465 MW) and the lowest power consumption (460 million kWh) was recorded on May 1.

During the holidays, Power plants with transmission grids and distribution grids basically safely and stably operated. Furthermore, there was no labor accident on electricity, and the firefighting has been actively execute, there was no fire explosion during these day off.

Earlier, in order to ensure the power for the 30/4 and 1/5 holiday, from the beginning of April, EVN had issued the document No. 1642/EVN-KD+KTSX on 4/4/2018 to conduct and speed up all units in ensuring and electricity priority issue, especially at political and cultural local events. In particular, Power Corporations/ Company actively worked with People committee of the Provinces and cities to catch up about time, places and arranged backup Diezel generator. EVN has also conducted units not to work on the grid, interrupt supplying power for customers, except for resolving problems. Beside, arranging employee along with the spare parts, fuel, information system and vehicles to guarantee timely handling with unexpected problems. In addition, EVN demanded units to actively cooperate with local authorities, police, army to keep on checking and preparing plans to protect the security, safety fire prevention for power constructions and grid operation. Besides, EVN also requested the The National Electricity System Modernization Center informs all power generation units to set on the highest availability to react when the system requires mobilization.

Clarifying information related to coal supply for power generation

Currently, in some mass media, it is mentioned that there is a "shortage of 01 million tons of coal for thermal power production". To avoid public misunderstanding about the responsibilities of coal suppliers, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) would like to clarify the above information as follows:

Information publicity and transparency on implementing procedures of transitional renewable energy projects

After the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated 7/1/2023 on regulations on electricity generation price bracket for transitional solar and wind power plants, Power Trading Company (under EVN) issued a document to the Investors requesting the submission of documents for calculation and negotiation of electricity prices. The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity has also held conferences with project investors many times to discuss and remove difficulties and problems related to records, orders and procedures for electricity prices negotiation, power purchase and sale contracts, etc. The prescribed processes and procedures have also been publicly and transparently promulgated by EVN and sent to investors.

Adjusting average retail electricity price from May 4, 2023

According to Decision No. 24/2017/QD-TTg dated June 30, 2017, stipulating the mechanism for adjusting the average retail electricity price of the Prime Minister, according to the document No. 304/BCT-DTDL dated April 27, 2023, of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam Electricity has issued Decision No. 377/QD-EVN dated April 27, 2023, on adjusting the average retail electricity price, whereby the average retail electricity price is VND 1,920.3732/kWh (excluding value added tax) from May 4, 2023. This adjustment is equivalent to an increase of 3% compared to the current average retail electricity price.
