In particular, EVN has ensured a safe and stable power supply for the second session of the 15th National Assembly and proactively responded to floods and landslides in many Central - Central Highlands provinces.
In November 2021, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) continues to perform well the dual task of ensuring the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring power supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's daily activities. In particular, EVN has ensured a safe and stable power supply for the second session of the 15th National Assembly and proactively responded to floods and landslides in many Central - Central Highlands provinces.
In November 2021, power consumption showed growth sign again compared to previous months after the socio-economic gradually recovered into the new normal situation. Power production of the whole system in November 2021 reached 20.71 billion kWh (equivalent to about 690.3 million kWh/day), an increase of 3.9% over the same period in 2020. Accumulated 11 months of 2021 reached 233.67 billion kWh, up 3.6% over the same period in 2020; in which power produced by EVN and Power Generation Corporations (including joint-stock companies) reached 113.48 billion kWh, accounting for 48.56% of the power production of the whole system. The mobilization level and rate of some main types of power sources in the national power system in the past 11 months are as follows:
+ Hydropower reached 72.04 billion kWh, accounting for 30.8% of the total power output of the whole system.
+ Coal-fired thermal power reached 108.32 billion kWh, accounting for 46.4% of the total power production of the whole system.
+ Gas turbines reached 24.36 billion kWh, accounting for 10.4% of the total power production of the whole system.
+ Renewable energy (wind power, solar power, biomass power) reached 26.88 billion kWh, accounting for 11.5% of the total power output of the whole system (in which solar power reached 24.46 billion kWh, wind power reached 2.27 billion kWh).
+ Oil thermal power is insignificantly mobilization, reaching 02 million kWh.
+ Imported power reached 1.34 billion kWh, accounting for 0.6% of the total power production of the whole system.
EVN's commercial power output in November 2021 is estimated at 19.03 billion kWh, up 4.59% compared to November 2020. Accumulated 11 months of 2021 reached 206.59 billion kWh, up 3.92% over the same period in 2020.
Power output in November 2021 reached 15.92 billion kWh. Accumulated 11 months of 2021, transmission power output reached 184.01 billion kWh, down 1.7% over the same period in 2020.
About business and customer service:
In the first 11 months of 2021, the Power Corporations have received nearly 14 million electrical service requests, of which the requests received through the Customer Care Center, the Public Administration Center and the Public Service are over 12.57 million requests (99.66%); only 0.34% of total requests are received directly at customer transaction offices. Particularly for the reception via internet channels (National Service Portal, Customer Service website, Customer Care App, Zalo, etc.), the number of requests received and handled accounted for 45.60%.
By the end of November 2021, the rate of customers paying electricity bills in non-cash form reached 81.45%; the rate of electricity bill non-cash payment reached 94.72%.
Regarding construction investment: Accumulated 11 months of 2021, commencement 119 power grid projects; completed energizing 110 110-500kV power grid projects (including 9 500kV projects, 20 220kV projects and 81 110kV projects). Of which, communication 500/220kV transformers were installed and energized at the 500/220kV distribution yard in Long Phu; energizing phase 2 of Pha Lai - Bac Ninh 220kV transmission line; energizing T2 transformer at Tinh Gia 2 110kV substation, T2 – 40MVA transformer at Nha Man 110kV substation, T2 transformer and equipment of Muong La 110kV substation, increasing the capacity of 110/35/22kV – 40MVA transformer at Ngu Hanh Son 220kV substation; energizing 110kV transmission line that connects Krong Ana 220kV substation - Krong Pak 110kV substation, Phuoc Long 110kV substation and its connecting lines, etc.
Regarding social security work: EVN was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister for its many achievements in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic. EVN has reduced electricity tariff and electricity bills in 5 phases (in 2020 - 2021) with a total amount of more than VND 16,950 billion. From the end of April 2021 to now, EVN and its member units have donated about VND 575 billion for pandemic prevention and control. In which, EVN donated VND 400 billion to the COVID-19 vaccine fund and 24,000 computers (equivalent to VND 60 billion) for the "Waves and computers for children" program.
In addition, EVN was honored to receive an award in the category of Excellent Digital Transformation Enterprise at the Vietnam Digital Awards 2021 organized by the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA). The Excellent Digital Transformation Enterprise Award is awarded to businesses that have a strong digital transformation process from traditional models to a working and business environment based on digital technology.
Some goals and tasks in December 2021
In December 2021, the average power consumption of the whole system is expected to be 700.5 million kWh/day, the largest load capacity is estimated at 37,071MW.
The power system operation goals in December 2021:
- Continuing to perform well the dual task of ensuring the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, while ensuring the power production and supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's daily life, at health care facilities, COVID-19 concentrated isolation areas.
- Ensuring safety in the operation of hydropower exploitation, safety against floods and ensuring water supply for downstream, with the goal of water storage at the end of the year.
- High mobilization of coal-fired power plants in the North to ensure the goal of water storage in the Northern hydropower reservoirs.
- Mobilize gas turbines according to system needs, ensuring system stability, constraints against grid overload and voltage quality.
Regarding construction investment: Ensuring the progress of urgent power source projects and power grid works, releasing renewable energy capacity. Continuing to implement arrange loans procedures for power source and grid projects.
In December 2021, the units actively well implemented the Customer Gratitude Month 2021 program with the theme "Accompanying customers to overcome difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic"; the humanitarian blood donation program "The 7th EVN Pink Week - 2021" with the message "Ten thousand hearts - One heart";
In addition, EVN continues to direct the Power Corporations/Companies to fully prepare human resources and means, increase the 24/24 response; proactively respond to natural disasters in the rainy and stormy season, ensure the safety of people, equipment, electrical works, and ensure the safety of dams, hydropower plants, and downstream areas of reservoirs.

PM sets higher requirements for 500 kV Lao Cai – Vinh Yen transmission line project
The 500 kV Lao Cai – Vinh Yen transmission line is a strategic national infrastructure project approved by the Government, with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as the investor. The double-circuit transmission line will span 229.5 kilometers, with 468 tower foundations across the four northern provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc. The total investment for the project is over 7.41 trillion VND (290.41 million USD).

In February and the first 2 months of 2025, Vietnam Electricity and its member units ensured power supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's needs. In October 2024, Vietnam Electricity and its member units ensured sufficient power supply for the country's socio-economic development and people's needs in the context of continued high electricity demand growth. In particular, EVN units in the Central region proactively responded to and remedied the consequences of storm No. 6 (Tra Mi).
Operational situation in first 9 months and objectives and tasks for quarter IV of 2024
In the first 9 months of 2024, economic growth continued to restore and maintain positive development momentum in all 3 regions (agricultural production; industrial production; trade - services) leading to high demand for electricity, the power supply situation in the peak months of the dry season in 2024 faced many challenges. In addition, the development of natural disasters and floods also greatly affected the power supply ensuring, especially the impact of storm No. 3 (Yagi) and post-storm flooding in 26 provinces/cities in the Northern region. However, with the strong and regular direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches, and localities, together with the solidarity, efforts, and determination of the leadership and all employees, the task implementation in the first 9 months of 2024 of EVN has achieved many remarkable results.
Performance in July 2024, targets and tasks in August 2024
In July 2024, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) continued to ensure a safe and stable power supply, serving socio-economic development, and meeting people's daily needs, in the context of continuously increasing electricity demand and during the month with storms, tropical depressions, heavy rains, and floods occurring in many areas in the Northern mountainous region, affecting power supply as well as some power grid projects. The total electricity output of the system in July 2024 reached 27.7 billion kWh, an increase of 6.9% over the same period in 2023. Of which: the largest daily electricity consumption (July 9) reached 964.3 million kWh and the maximum capacity reached 46,298MW (on the same day of July 9).
