Complete the project to ensure quality and exceed the schedule

Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant project has a total installed capacity of 600 MW (belonging to Thai Binh Power Center). This is one of the top quality thermal power plants in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant is one of the projects with important significance in socio-economic development of Thai Binh province in particular and the country in general. It is a milestone of cooperation between the two governments and people of Japan - Vietnam.

The project is completed and the plant is put into operation is a great honor of the electricity industry, a result of the outstanding efforts of the General Contractor and units from Japan, the United States, Vietnam ...

On this occasion, the Prime Minister glorified the Electricity of Vietnam, Power Generation Corporation 3 and the Thai Binh Thermal Power Project Management Board to actively implement the project to ensure the quality, exceeds the schedule, meet with the requirements demand for environmental protection, demonstrating the Group's leading role in investment, development of power sources and grids, ensuring electricity supply for the economy and people's life.

The Prime Minister also glorified the Party Committee and authorities of Thai Binh province for supporting and facilitating EVN in the implementation of the Plant construction, contributing to bringing the project to its destination earlier than planned.

The Prime Minister asked the Electricity of Vietnam to apply modern technology and techniques to the management of safe, reliable operation of the plant, contributing to the supply of electricity to the country and ensuring the environment. EVN needs to continue to develop its experience to speed up the progress and put other power and grid projects into operation on schedule - quality and ensure environmental protection; continue to shorten the time to access electricity, improve the business environment.

Ensuring factory operation reliably and environmental protection
Chairman of EVN Members' Council Duong Quang Thanh said that during 4 years of construction, the Power Generating Corporation 3/Thai Binh Thermal Power Project Management Board cooperated with Marubeni General Contractor to closely follow and implement all contract regulations and the State on progress, quality, cost and environmental protection. The time to complete unit 2 is nearly 1 month earlier than expected.
The project is checked and accepted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and evaluated as one of the top qualified thermal power plants in Vietnam. Actual operation in the past time shows that the quality of waste gas and wastewater through the factory's treatment system has brought better results than current standards of Vietnam.

The environmental parameters of the Plant are monitored online at Thai Binh province Department of Natural Resources and Environment. Factory ash is used as cement additive, so it has been consumed, no residual ash.
Since putting into operation, the units have brought into full play the designed capacity, promptly supplementing the shortage of electricity system during the dry season of 2018 and 2019. From the beginning of 2018 until now, the Plant has delivered to raise the total electricity output of over 3 billion kWh.
Chairman of EVN Member’s Council emphasized that in 2019, the weather status is complicated, the fuel source for electricity generation faced many difficulties. Even so, the Group is committed to ensure electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's life. For Thai Binh Thermal Power Plant, EVN committed to ensuring safe, stable operation, ensuring environmental conditions, towards sustainable development.

- Investor: Electricity of Vietnam (EVN); Project management: Power Generation Corporation 3/Thai Binh Thermal Power Project Management Board
- Construction site: My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province.
- Total investment: About VND 26.5 trillion, equivalent to USD 1.27 billion
- Capital: Loan from Japan International Cooperation Bank: 85%, reciprocal capital of EVN: 15%
- Capacity: 2 Units x 300 MW
- Technology: Coal fired steam boiler with Sub-critical parameter.
- Fuel: Coal bran 5 from Quang Ninh, combine HFO oil during starting the unit
- Starting date: 22/02/2014
- Progress of completion according to EPC Contract: Unit 1: 14/10/2017; Unit 2: 14/4/2018.
- Estimated annual electricity output: From 3.6 to 3.9 billion kWh
