On the afternoon of April 6th, 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City, Power Generation Corporation 3 - JSC (EVNGENCO3) celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its establishment (2012 - 2022). 10 years of confidence and desire for development with great efforts and determination, and a spirit of solidarity, flexibility and creativity to stand with each other, the Leadership and all employees of EVNGenco3 have successfully completed all tasks and assured the national energy security.
On the afternoon of April 6th, 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City, Power Generation Corporation 3 - JSC (EVNGENCO3) celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its establishment (2012 - 2022). 10 years of confidence and desire for development with great efforts and determination, and a spirit of solidarity, flexibility and creativity to stand with each other, the Leadership and all employees of EVNGENCO3 have successfully completed all tasks and assured the national energy security.
At the Ceremony, the representative of the diplomatic mission was Mr. Graham B. Harlo - Deputy Consul General of the United States of America in Ho Chi Minh City, and other representatives of the U.S. Trade Office, Australian Trade and Investment Commission in Vietnam; Western Australia's International Trade and Investment Office in Vietnam.
In respect of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), participants include Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Member’s Council of EVN; Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of EVN, and other members of the Member’s Council, Head of Board of Supervisors of EVN, Board of Directors and representatives of EVN's departments and divisions.
Representatives of local governments and organizations include Mr. Nguyen Huu Hiep - Member of the Standing Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Party Secretary of Thu Duc City; Mr. Hoang Tung - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, and Mr. Tran Xuan Dien - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization.
Representative of the Grassroots-level Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Ho Chi Minh City (DUK) is Mr. Le Thi Hong Nga - Secretary of the Grassroots-level Party Committee and other comrades in the Standing Committee of the Grassroots-level Party Committee.
Representatives of EVNGENCO3 include Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Le Van Danh – General Director; members of the Board of Directors, Leadership of the Corporation, Board of Supervisors, and other leaders of the boards, member units, affiliated companies of the Corporation.
There is also great participation of retired officials, former leaders of EVN, EVNGENCO3, member units in and out of the power industry, partners, press agencies and employees of the Corporation.
10-year development impress
At the 10th Anniversary of the Corporation Establishment, Mr. Le Van Danh - General Director of EVNGENCO3 said that “On June 1st, 2012, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 3025/QD-BCT to establish the Power Generation Corporation 3 and officially put into operation on January 1st, 2013. Over the last 10 years, the Corporation’s development journey has faced many difficulties and challenges; however, EVNGENCO3's employees have always maintained a spirit of solidarity and confidence to move forward and achieve great results”.
Currently, Power Generation Corporation 3 owns and operates power plants with a total installed capacity of over 6,565 MW, including combined-cycle gas turbine power plants, coal-fired power plants, hydropower plants, solar power plants and so on. The Corporation’s electricity output in the past 10 years is 306 billion kWh, producing more than 30 billion kWh/year on average, contributing 14.9% of electricity output to the power system on average, especially in 2015- 2016, contributing up to 18.3% of the electricity output of the power system. Technical and economic indicators are guaranteed; especially the coal heat loss rate has decreased sharply; availability is always assured; the incident rate decreases markedly; the program of mixed coal burning is implemented to assure the coal source for production in the context that domestic coal resources are increasingly scarce. The Corporation always pays great attention to ash and slag consumption and develops green, clean and beautiful environment.

In the period of 2013-2022, the Corporation has invested and acted as a project management consultant for EVN and put into commercial operation of 5,726 MW; the total net investment value is about 145 trillion VND. That is Ban Chat Hydropower Plant (220 MW); Vinh Tan 2 Thermal Power Plant (1,244 MW); Mong Duong 1 Thermal Power Plant (1,080 MW); Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant and Vinh Tan 4 Extension Thermal Power Plant (1,800 MW); Thai Binh 1 Thermal Power Plant (600 MW); Vinh Tan 2 Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 42.65 MWp; supporting resources and promoting the power generation of Thuong Kon Tum Hydropower Plant (220 MW).
The EVNGENCO3’s production and business results reach and exceed the assigned plan with stable growth after each year. At the same time, the Corporation’s financial situation is increasingly healthy, its capital resources are preserved and developed, financial indicators are improved (ensuring the debt payment through maintaining good payment factors >1, and the debt/equity ratio is reduced.
The EVNGENCO3’s corporate governance has gradually assured professionalism, standards and modernity. The Corporation has been granted the Certification on Global Gender Equality by the EDGE Certified Foundation (Switzerland) twice in a row. The quality of EVNGENCO3’s human resources is increased strongly with the spirit of pioneer, responsibility, enthusiasm and creation. The Corporation regularly improves the working capacity of employees through training courses oriented towards clean energy development strategy such as training on wind turbine technology in the US, training on developing offshore wind power projects in Australia, training on steam-turbine repair in the US and so on.
With the motto of production and business associated with social responsibility, over the past 10 years, EVNGENCO3 has always actively carried out social security and joined hands with many practical activities for the community, with a total cost of about 80 billion VND. Implemented activities are, for example, contribution to the vaccine fund; design, construction and installation of Medical Gas Supply System for more than 1,000 sick beds for hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City; the ATM Oxygen Thu Duc Program; scholarships for 47 students orphaned due to the effects of Covid-19 pandemic; construction and donation of 47 Houses of Gratitude in Binh Thuan Province, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province and Quang Ninh Province; performance of many programs such as School Milk; construction of kindergartens; repair of public buildings, school playgrounds, classrooms, roads; awarding scholarships and study promotion funds; carrying out works to light up rural roads, organizing relief programs for people affected by natural disasters, visiting and giving gifts to disadvantaged households and so on in local areas.

Speaking at the Anniversary Ceremony, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Member’s Council of EVN emphasized that the past 10 years have been a process of unceasing efforts, dedication and aspiration for the development of EVNGENCO3. The Corporation's officers and employees always clearly express their capacity, bravery, flexible adaptation, innovation and creativity to make their own mark. That is the excellent completion of all tasks of power generation; taking the lead in operation, repair and project management; assuring the advanced management method; promoting good financial health; preserving and developing EVN's capital resources at EVNGENCO3. The Chairman of EVN's Board of Directors believes that in the coming time, EVNGENCO3 will continue to successfully fulfill the target of power generation and supply with better quality and service, ensuring responsibility to the environment and community.

Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVNGENCO3 said that “In the past 10 years, people are always the decisive factor for success; therefore, EVNGENCO3 has overcome many difficulties, turned challenges into opportunities. EVNGENCO3’s employees share the same spirit to create different values. When entering a new phase of development, opportunities will continue to expand, but difficulties and challenges will come along. The Corporation’s leadership and employees will constantly try their best to fulfill all tasks and expectations assigned by the higher authority.
For the purpose of long-term development goals and maintenance of market share in the coming period, EVNGENCO3 will implement appropriate plans in all aspects such as ensuring fuel sources for production, actively seeking alternative sources; developing the service supply; restructuring and shifting to clean energy sources. Currently, the Corporation is also researching and investing in the LNG Long Son Power Complex Project (1,500 MW), Simacai Hydropower Project (18 MW), etc. These projects are expected to contribute to the overall development of the electricity industry, ensuring the national energy security when put into operation.
On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of EVNGENCO3, the Corporation would like to express its gratitude to the local authorities, leaders of Party Committees, EVN and previous generations for their valuable contributions and concern, thence facilitating and supporting EVNGENCO3 to achieve positive results.
