On the afternoon of June 3, 2024, an Australian investment delegation, led by Ms. Rebecca Ball, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Austrade Vietnam, visited and had a meeting with the management of Power Generation Corporation 3 - JSC (EVNGenco3).

The delegation comprised senior representatives from 14 Australian pension and investment funds. This visit marks an important milestone following the upgrading of Vietnam-Australia bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on March 7, 2024, unlocking numerous cooperation opportunities across various sectors, including energy. 

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of EVNGENCO3 were Mr. Dinh Quoc Lam, Chairman of the Board of Directors, along with representatives from the Corporation’s Board of Directors and other key departments.

During the meeting, EVNGENCO3 presented an overview of its operations, development strategies, and the Vietnamese electricity market, including key regulations. Both sides engaged in open and in-depth discussions regarding potential investment and construction opportunities, as well as the restructuring plans of EVNGENCO3 in the future.

At the meeting, Ms. Rebecca Ball stated that this was one of the few working programs bringing together leading Australian financial institutions to explore the investment environment in Vietnam. She sincerely thanked the leaders of EVNGENCO3 for their warm reception and highly appreciated the Corporation’s potential, as well as the strong cooperative relationship between Austrade and EVNGENCO3 over time. 

She also reaffirmed Australia’s confidence in Vietnam’s economic growth, particularly in the energy sector, and hoped that businesses from both countries would have more opportunities for investment cooperation in Vietnam’s energy industry, development of new clean and green power projects to support the country’s energy transition goals.
