EVNGENCO 3 Power Service Company (EPS) has implemented many comprehensive solutions and applied RCM and RMS technologies in maintenance and repair works to guarantee the safe and stable operation of power plants in the dry season of 2022.
The 2nd Quarter of every year is considered to be the peak of the dry season, and it is also the time when the demand for loads and power output for production and daily life increases significantly due to hot weather. According to statistics, the generated power output of the entire national grid in May 2022 reached 23.3 billion kWh, accumulated consumption in 5 months reached 109 billion kWh, increased up to 4.1% over the same period. To assure the successful task of power generation, the maintenance and repair works of plant units also requires quality and timely response.

Mr. Truong Van Phuong - Director of EPS said that “The Management Board of the Company is assigned to be on duty continuously to promptly guide workshops and coordinate with the Power Generation Units to solve emergency situations when power plants are operating at a full range of capabilities to ensure the safe and continuous operation”.
At the same time, the EPS’s repair workshops have increased their personnel to arrange regular repair and troubleshooting shifts, and be ready to respond quickly 24/7 - Mr. Phuong added.
Before, during and at the beginning of the dry season, the EPS Company regularly cooperates to inspect and evaluate the current status of system equipment, especially promoting the implementation of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) solutions, remote monitoring of real-time operating parameters (RMS) for early detection of any abnormality of equipment during operation.

Assessing the efficiency of technology application in maintenance and repair works, Mr. Vu Huy Hau - Head of Engineering and Safety Department of EPS said that “Based on the repair and maintenance history of the plant unit, we are active in developing engineering and resource solutions for different situations and problems. As a result, plant units maintained and repaired by EPS at the 3 Power Centers including Vinh Tan, Mong Duong and Phu My are always maintained in the best condition, reaching the economic and technical criteria in terms of available coefficients and low breakdown rate”.
According to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), in June 2022, the hot weather will gradually increase, especially in the North and Central regions of Vietnam. Accordingly, EPS Company needs to continue to coordinate and maintain solutions to ensure the availability of generator units, promoting the works of processing, manufacturing and recovery of replacement materials at the Processing and Restoration Workshop to proactively supply replacement materials for system equipment in any repair situation, optimizing costs for maintenance.
In the 2022 plan, EPS will carry out 12 major repair works for plant units at 3 Power Centers including Phu My, Vinh Tan and Mong Duong with a total value of nearly VND 2,400 billion. Up to now, the preparations for these works are being urgently implemented, and ready according to the motto “Safe, flexible and effective adaptation” to ensure the safe, continuous and efficient operations of plant units in the dry season of 2023 and contribute to the successful completion of tasks as set out by EVNGENCO3.
